I am a professional web and graphic designer with a great experience in making unique digital artworks, websites and graphic designs. I have been in design industry since 2008. My experience as a designer came from different areas and expertise. I have been through making simple artworks to complicated yet creative website designs. I saw Rocco Malatesta’s work some days ago on Facebook – some page was sharing one of his Reservoir Dogs image and I instantly liked it. I did not know whom the artist was, until later that week when we got an e-mail of his portfolio link – and I instantly got down to write this down and feature him.

I love Rocco Malatesta’s illustrations; his simplistic style is what drives the users to check his artwork. In addition, I would not mind hanging one of the posters of my favorite movie in my room – these posters are a simplistic and artistic alternative to the original ones.

If there is one thing that I love featuring on the website is artwork that has ‘talent’ and ‘skill’ written all over it. James Mylne is a British contemporary artist who is most famous for his drawings done with a mere ballpoint pen.

Scott Listfield is an American painter. His paintings are immediate attractive with his astronaut placed often with pop culture icons. Indeed, he “paints astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs.” Below is Listfield’s artist statement. Interestingly, the muse of his series is heavily philosophical. It is through his social commentary from each of his paintings, in combination of the humorous and visually stunning art style, that Listfield’s work is widely received.

“Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968, well before I was born, so I have no firsthand knowledge of how it was received. I don’t know if people really believed we’d be living in space in 2001, if we’d have robot butlers and flying cars, geodesic lunar homes, and genetically reconstituted dinosaurs helping or eating us. But from Lost in Space to the Jetsons to Jurassic Park, it seems that popular culture has fostered this space-age perception of the future. Generations raised on these TV shows, movies, comic books, and novels are now grown and living in a future filled with mini vans, Starbucks, iPads, and Hip Hop videos. In many ways, the year 2001 failed to live up to expectations. And yet the world today is peculiar in ways unimagined in 1957, when Sputnik was launched, or in 1968, when 2001 was released, or even in 1994, at the dawn of the internet. The present is in fact a very unusual place, and it’s strangest in the ubiquity of things we take for granted.

The astronaut in my paintings is simply here to explore the present.”

I recently came across this wonderful collection of illustration by an artist named Quibe. His drawings are created with one unbroken line. It is simple and it gets straight to the point of representing the subject. It is definitely a treat to see such beauty stemming from a minimalistic approach. Check out his work!

James Nares, represented by the Paul Kasmin Gallery, creates these beautiful large scale oil paintings on a linen canvas. Although his works look simple and repetitive at first, Nares frequently produces these artworks with a single brush stroke, recording a gestural passage of time and motion across the canvas. On top of this, it is said that Nares uses “brushes of his own design, he repeatedly creates and erases his strokes, over and over again, until he feels he has made one that represents a precision of balance between intent and improvisation.” And that, is the definition of mastery.
