George Dawe was an English portrait artist who painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg, Russia.
To incorporate current celebrities and models into historic paintings requires quite a talent and a creative mind to come up with such an idea in the first place – the artist responsible for this “Replaceface” project has both the talents.
Here is how he easily made 329 portraits of Russian generals
I am using digital copies of these paintings as a basis for my own work that involves incorporating my friends, family and even some celebrities into the paintings using photoshop.
