I was introduced to Gediminas Pranckevicius’s work when I first came across the album cover of Owl City’s music album: The Midsummer Station. The artwork was brilliant. A surreal piece of illustration that to me depicted quite a powerful message. The old shanty-town, with a tree at the top and a blurry but visible water body at the side with a whale in it, while someone fishes in it.
As for Gediminas Pranckevicius himself, he was born in Lithuania. He gained his basic artistic knowledge at the academy of fine arts, fresco specialty. Today working as freelance illustrator, concept artist. Check him out:
