If you are looking for an app on the iOS device which is (Free) good for vintage and retro photographs, then I would suggest checking Retrica out. I came about the app last week and have since then been trying out the application, and I’m pretty impressed.
The app, like many others, has in-app purchases (which is kind of one of the down-fall) that allows you to purchase many other exclusive Retrica filters; which mind you, are worth it!
Download the app on iTunes App Store:
One of the best things I liked about Retrica was the interface. The app was made for taking retro & vintage photographs, and I believe the interface very much coincides with that objective, as it itself looks pretty retro.
A minimalistic user-interface ensures that you can get around the application pretty quickly and take photographs in the blink of an eye. This is quite important as there are times when you need to take a photograph quickly.
On the very front-page you can pretty much see everything that you would want: multiple-image boxes, frames, blur, borders and a timer option (pretty good if you have some sort of a stand where u can position the iPhone, set the timer and run to get into the frame).
Below that is the main shutter button. The album button, the filter button and a “Randomize filter” button. Press that as many time as you like and you’ll get a random filter (Note: some of the filters are locked, and can be unlocked only when you purchase them. But it’s a great thing done by the developers that you are allowed to see how the filter looks like, even without buying it. Just for preview).
Once the shutter is pressed you get the main image. This image has a “Retrica” watermark on it. Don’t like it? That’s alright. You can go into the “Settings” tab and turn the watermark option off. Not only that, but u can also edit the watermark and choose from a variety of Retrica watermarks.
I personally love the default one. Looks neat.
Once the image is photographed, there is also this neat little option that allows you to export the image straight to Instagram. That is pretty cool, since u don’t have to go all the way to instagram, then browse the image and upload. You can do it straight from the Retrica app!
